I’ve had the honor of working with the owners of Sugar Taco to team up with them to design a mural for their new company opening in Long Beach. They have decided to open a vegan deli located directly next to the Long Beach Sugar Taco location. This new place is called Plant Butchers and is scheduled to open October 1st, just a few short weeks away!
For the mural design, they wanted a floral and vegetation wall that had a watercolor texture. To get this effect I used a pouring medium along with the interior Benjamin Moore colors purchased at the Santa Barbara Paint Depot. The medium allowed the paint to be a little more translucent and moveable, creating what looks like a watercolor effect by blending each color together.
My design included plants, flowers, vegetables and fruit all in bright and vibrant colors.

This mural definitely challenged me with the texture, but I think it came out beautifully. It ties in perfectly with the vegan deli concept and brings a bright pop of color to the restaurant.
