Our Local Artists Paints a Banksy in our Magnolia Square Location!
I’ve been working with the Santa Barbara Paint Depot for quite a while now, but just recently got the opportunity to do a mural for them.
My previous Banksy inspired mural for a private client inspired Art Prado, owner of our Santa Barbara Paint Depot Hollister location, to ask for a similar image at the second store.
He sent me an inspired photo with his colorful vision incorporated. We drafted up an image and got to work!
I normally work on murals alone but this time I had the chance to work with Amber Prado and teach her a little bit about
recreating a large scale mural.
Here are the Benjamin Moore colors that we used:
● Black
The concept was a Banksy inspired girl and umbrella with different colors raining down around
her.
To begin, I projected the girl onto the wall where we wanted it. Then I took some time to sketch her out and we got to work. I had Amber work from the bottom up while I worked from the top down. Our artistic styles compliment each other well so we were able to meet in the middle and create a cohesive image.
I then added the umbrella and we got to work on the colorful rain.
All in all, it took us 4 hours total with two sets of hands. I definitely enjoyed working with Amber to create this beautiful mural, and I’m proud of what we created!
Amber: “The process of making this mural was smooth and a lot of fun all around. I was really pleased with the outcome of the mural and was really happy with how much the colors really enhanced the whole mural altogether. Overall, I am really happy with how everything turned out.”
